About Claire Parsons Counselling and Psychotherapy - Our Mission and Team

“It is a joy to be hidden and a disaster not to be found.”
— D.W. Winnicott

I am a Transactional Analysis (TA) therapist in advanced clinical training at The Metanoia Institute in London working with individuals, couples and groups.

My approach is shaped by the idea that we can begin from where we are, without needing to be perfect or have everything figured out.  Often the things we struggle with make sense in the context of our lives, even if they no longer feel helpful now.  I work in a relational way, taking time to understand what’s been happening for you rather than trying to move too quickly towards change.

My own life is shaped by the changes and challenges that come with being human. This also continues to inform how I think about the work.

I attend regular clinical supervision, ongoing training and personal psychotherapy to ensure my practice is reflective, ethical and effective.

A bit about me...

Who I work with

I work with individuals and couples from a range of backgrounds and life stages. People often come to me when they are experiencing:

  • periods of change or transition in life
  • questions about identity, direction, or sense of self
  • relationship challenges (friendships, families and couples)
  • the emotional impact of living with chronic illness or autoimmune conditions
  • the changing nature of family life, including becoming a parent or children growing up and all the bits in between.
  • feelings of being overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure where to begin
  • a sense that something isn’t quite right, even if it’s hard to put into words

I also plan to offer a small group for people living with chronic illness or autoimmune conditions — a space to reflect on the impact these can have and to share that experience with others. If this feels relevant to you, you’re welcome to get in touch.

You don’t need to fit into any of these categories to come to therapy. We begin with whatever feels most important to you.
